JUST WHAT I WANTED
Once upon a time, there was a little girl
named Julia who wanted to build things.
She
told her friends and her parents, "I
want to build buildings." Everyone
tried
to think of what to give her.
Julia's friend Betty was a very good cook.
She gave Julia cooking tools and a little
oven. "Here," her friend said,
"with this you can build things. You
can build cakes and cookies."
That's not what I wanted, thought Julia,
but aloud she said, "thank you for thinking
of me."
Julia's friend Coco was a very good seamstress.
She gave Julia a sewing machine and some
thread and some beautiful cloth.
"Here," Coco said to Julia. "With
this you can build things. You can build
beautiful clothes."
That's not what I wanted, Julia thought sadly,
but aloud she said, "thank you for thinking
of me."
