Magic Circles

The limits of the trackers we used in Placeholder meant that a limit of about ten feet was imposed on how far participants could move around in real space. This lead to the idea of a Magic Circle within a larger visual and acoustic space - a circle within which participants would move about. The two participants were physically located in real spaces separated from each other, yet when they were in the same virtual World we could map their Magic Circles into the same virtual performance space, where they could interact visually, acousticly, and by manipulating Voiceholders... and even by swapping bodies!

The exception to the limits imposed by the Magic Circles was Crow Flight - a participant embodied as Crow could soar beyond the confines of the Magic Circle, indeed beyond the limits of the World itself, into the far void.
